How to list your startup's app on Atlassian Marketplace

TL;DR

Atlassian Marketplace is the app store inside Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management and the other Atlassian products, with 6,000+ apps from 2,000+ partners. Creating a partner profile and listing an app costs nothing, and on paid cloud apps built on Forge you keep 83% of revenue (from 1 October 2026), plus 100% of your first $1 million in lifetime Forge revenue. It suits startups that build a product teams use next to Jira or Confluence.

What is Atlassian Marketplace?

Jira and Confluence admins find and buy add-ons here: time tracking, test management, diagrams, reporting. Apps install straight into the customer's Atlassian site, and Atlassian bills for paid apps. Atlassian says Marketplace apps have passed $6B in lifetime sales.

This listing used to point to a 2019 Atlassian blog post about the Trello community collection. That post has no way for startups to submit anything, so we now describe the Marketplace, the real channel for startups that build on Atlassian.

Who should list on Atlassian Marketplace?

  • B2B SaaS startups whose buyers already work in Jira or Confluence: dev tools, QA, HR, IT service, project reporting.
  • Founders with developers who can build a Forge app, Atlassian's own hosting platform for cloud apps.
  • Skip it if your product has no reason to live inside Jira or Confluence, or if you only want a backlink. Approval takes engineering work.

How much does Atlassian Marketplace cost?

  • Listing: no fee. Atlassian lists no charge for a partner profile or a free app.
  • Revenue share on Jira, Jira Service Management and Confluence apps from 1 October 2026: you keep 83% on Forge apps, 75% on Connect apps and 75% on Data Center apps. Other Atlassian products: 75% on all hosting types.
  • Forge launch bonus: since 1 January 2026, partners receive 100% of gross Forge revenue up to $1 million lifetime, then the standard Forge rate.
  • Payouts: Atlassian pays once you pass $500 in profit, within 30 days after the end of that month. Customers can get a full refund within 30 days.

How do you list your app on Atlassian Marketplace?

  1. Create an Atlassian account at id.atlassian.com and log in to Marketplace.
  2. Create your partner profile at marketplace.atlassian.com/manage/vendor/create and accept the Marketplace Partner Agreement.
  3. Build the app with Forge. Atlassian is winding down Data Center and tells new partners to focus on cloud.
  4. Prepare the listing (name, logo, screenshots, pricing, documentation, a privacy policy) and meet the security requirements for cloud apps. Paid apps need a business email domain; Gmail or Yahoo addresses are refused.
  5. Submit the listing for review, following the Marketplace developer guide. Approval takes 10 to 15 business days, and several review rounds are common.

Tips to get more out of Atlassian Marketplace

  • Launch a free app first that solves one small Jira problem and links to your main product. Free apps still need a working, useful function to pass review.
  • Choose Forge over Connect: the revenue share gap from October 2026 is 83% against 75%.
  • Write the listing for Jira admins: what it does in their project, which permissions it needs, where the data lives.
  • Reply to every Marketplace review, so admins comparing apps see a team that answers.
  • The DA of 89 belongs to atlassian.com, so judge the listing by installs and trials.

Our verdict

For a B2B startup whose customers live in Jira or Confluence, Atlassian Marketplace is a distribution channel with paying buyers and fair terms for new Forge apps. It asks for real product work and a two to three week review, so treat it as a product launch with its own plan.
