How to list your startup on golocal
TL;DR
golocal is a German review platform for local businesses, run by pdm solutions GmbH in Berlin and partnered with Das Örtliche. Adding or claiming a business entry is free, and the site only covers businesses in Germany. It suits founders with a German address who want one more review profile and citation; the website link is nofollow.
What is golocal?
golocal.de is a consumer review site where people rate restaurants, doctors, tradespeople, shops, agencies and every other kind of local business. On 30 October 2026 the homepage counted 550,000 users, 8,800,000 reviews and 2,700,000 locations, with a footnote that some reviews come from partners. Its category list comes from Das Örtliche, the German phone directory.
Reviewers earn rewards: golocal gives a 5 euro Amazon voucher for the first 10 reviews and another 5 euros when a user verifies them with a check-in or an on-site photo. That keeps reviews coming in and rewards volume over depth. On the day we checked, two accounts wrote seven of the first eleven "newest good reviews" on the homepage, spread across businesses in different cities. Read star ratings there with that in mind.
Who should submit to golocal?
- Startups and small companies with a German street address: cafés, studios, agencies, clinics, shops, service businesses.
- Founders building consistent citations in Germany next to Google Business Profile and Das Örtliche.
- Skip it if you have no address in Germany. The site is organised by German towns and nothing else.
- Online software companies with no local presence gain little, and backlink hunters get nothing: business website links carry rel="nofollow".
How much does golocal cost?
Creating or taking over a business entry costs nothing, and golocal states that membership is permanently free. The help pages mention "golocal partners" and "premium partners", whose data users cannot edit, but golocal publishes no prices for those packages.
How do you share your startup on golocal?
- Open the golocal page for business owners and search for your company by name or category plus town or postcode.
- If your business already appears, click it and choose Geschäftseintrag kostenfrei übernehmen (take over the entry for free).
- If it does not appear, click Ihr Unternehmen jetzt kostenlos eintragen to add it as a new location.
- Register with first name, last name, phone number and email, or sign in with a Google or Verimi account. Facebook login was discontinued.
- Once the entry is yours, complete the contact details, opening hours, logo and description, then answer reviews as the owner.
Tips to get more out of golocal
- The sign-up form has an optional checkbox that lets SELLWERK GmbH & Co. KG contact you by phone or email about online marketing products. Leave it unticked if you do not want sales calls.
- Copy your company name, address and phone number exactly from your Google Business Profile.
- Reply to every review, starting with the negative ones. Owner replies are public and show visitors that someone is listening.
- Add the free review widget from the golocal tools page to your website once you have a few honest ratings.
- Ask real customers for reviews. Never buy them: suspicious clusters stand out, as the homepage shows.
Our verdict
golocal is a free, ten-minute citation for any startup with a German address, and owner replies make it worth claiming before someone else edits your data. It sends few visitors and passes no link value, so treat it as reputation hygiene. Without a location in Germany, skip it.
